New beginning?
11 08 2008My goal (and I know that putting this public makes me liable) is to put up a picture a day. No guarantee that I took the picture that day, but that is the way I’d like to go.
Here is Aeryck eating ice cream. I’m still playing with the new Nikon D700, which I love very much, and am still amazed by the results. It’s pretty cool too that I’m using a $110 50mm lens that is getting these awesome results.

NEW CAMERA!
1 08 2008It’s been a while since I’ve been in the mood to talk photography. That all started when the “more durable” shutter in my Canon 30D broke. After just under 8000 pictures taken with the camera it’s now going to cost me $225 to get it fixed.
I was getting tired of Canon in general being totally steamrollered by Nikon so I traded all my Canon gear in for my brand new Nikon D700. All I can say so far about it is WOW. It is so much more capable from the viewpoint of a professional, I’m really looking forward to putting it through its paces this fall when I’ll be on staff at the UNT paper.
Here is one of the first pictures I’ve taken with the new camera. Keep in mind that it was taken at ISO 6400 (extremely high) and I only ran it through the Nikon software that came with the camera. No editing.

Germany, Week 1
13 06 2008So, I’m here in Germany having a blast! I’ve gotten a little behind in updating the blog lately, but I’m catching up. Here’s a few pictures from the first week. Or just go here to check out all my pictures as I upload them.
Heres a normal street in Frankfurt. We were there for a short time between our flight and our train leaving.

A statue of Goethe in Leipzig where I am staying. This was in the “down town” section. The buildings are all amazing.

This was in Berlin. A great view over the Jewish Holocaust memorial, and you can see the Reichstag building in the background.

In Berlin we got to eat at the most famous Curry Wurst stand in Germany. It was pretty awesome.

This is the Berlin Dome Church. I really can’t thing of the words to explain how beautiful the inside was. The amount of history that the crypt held was quite insane!

Just a bit of silliness as we were walking back to the train station in Berlin.

On Saturday we got to go to Wittenburg during the festival of the celebration of Luthor’s marriage. Lots of history there. Luthor is the guy that started the whole Protestant reformation by nailing a thesis he had written (the 95 Thesis) to the church door. This is a picture of that door, or at least the door way with the thesis on it.

Then on Sunday a few of us got to go to the Porshe factory in Leipzig. They make the Cayennes here. (the SUV’s) Yea, it was awesome.

Check back for second week highlights.

Weekend and Food
16 05 2008Last weekend was a very interesting one indeed. It involved a factory, some laughter, and a Twinky-Weener-Sandwich. I went with Christian and Harmony and friends to eat at the Cheesecake Factory, which was awesome. Then we went to a “Second Chance” Prom. Danced, laughed and had a lot of fun.

I had my camera so many pictures were taken.

After we finished dancing to YMCA, we headed over to Josh Davis’s Graduation party and had some good times. Interesting people and food were the order of the night.

You might find this odd, but it was the hotdog that made it gross:
